A year ago today, New England Patriots Fans were getting themselves ready for an eventful night of football, as the Pats squared off against the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl.

Woth things looking bleak early on and the Pats trailing most of the game, Tom Brady and company came storming back with a tremendous fourth quarter of football.

Back-to-back, late scoring drives flipped a 10 point deficit into a four point lead with just a couple of minutes remaining in the game.

From there things got a little scary for the Pats and their fans, as the Seahawks seemed to be pulling Houdini-like plays out of their bag of tricks similar to what happened to New England in their previous two Super Bowls against the New York Giants.

With just over a minute left on the clock, Seattle had managed to get the ball to the New England one yard line. Seahawks' top back Marshawn Lynch, who is widely regarded as one of the best power runners in the league, was seemingly one touch away from ripping out the Pats' hearts for the third time in as many championship tries.

After doubling down and refusing to use his final timeouts to set up a defensive play against a likely hand off, Patriots' head coach Bill Belichick was able to goat Seattle into one of the worst blunders in the history of the game.

Feeling the pressure of getting a call in and running a play, and with a few downs to work with, Seattle head coach opted for a pass play.

To nearly everyone's shock and disbelief, Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson received the snap, planted his back foot and fired off a quick slant pass to his right.

That's when a star was born.

As Seattle receiver Ricardo Lockette cut tight inside and tracked the ball, undrafted rookie free agent New England corner back Malcolm Butler sailed in front and picked off the pass.

From there the Pats sat on the ball a couple of times and ran out the clock as Super Bowl Champions.

So while you're at home, most likely still shaking off the disbelief of a Super Bowl without the Pats this year, take a minute and remeber the great run from last season. Of course, it feels like the Pats should be in the midst of another Super Bowl week right now, but at least we'll always have last year's ring to quell the anger.

Here's to a great team and an even better finish to a fun February 1, 2015.
